We're just about to ring in the New Year ... the year YOU finally BECOME a high school SENIOR! Documenting this time in your life is important not only so you can remember it but so you can have photos that tell the story of you … who you are at this moment!
The best way to do that is to book a senior photo session!! So how do you do that? Here are a few tips on finding the right senior photographer for you and booking a senior photo session.
-- Ask Your Friends --
Talking to your friends or even past seniors and asking them about their senior photographer can give you some insight into who they used, what they liked and more. Look at your friends photos and see if the style is right for you … do you like the poses, the locations, the editing? Seeing your friends final photos is a good way to tell if their photographer's style fits your vibe!
-- Check Out The Photographer’s Website --
Make sure they have a professional website that has information that will help you decide if they are the right photographer for you. You don’t want to hire someone just because they have a fancy camera. You want to hire someone who is clearly a professional, has useful information available and has an up-to-date website. Take the time to look through the site and see if you can get a feel for the photographer and their work. Make sure they have contact information available and make sure their location is clearly stated on the website so you know they are in your area.
-- Are They Social? --
Is the photographer on social media? Are they updating their social media often? Do they post the same photos over and over or are they constantly posting fresh new stuff? Most likely if the photographer is on social media, they're keeping up with the trends! They know what's "in" for senior photos and they know what's "out" too. If the photographer isn't on social media, most likely their photography & services could be a bit out of date which may mean they are not a good fit for you. So check out their social media and see if you can get to know the person, their work and what they offer to make sure all of those fit your wants in a senior photographer.
-- Choose a Photographer that Specializes in Seniors --
Experience is key here! I'm not saying choose a photographer that only takes senior photos, but I am saying choose a photographer that posts lots of seniors on their social media and website. Photographers who specialize in seniors, know seniors! They know the trends, the best locations, outfits and all the tips and tricks to help your session go smoothly. Senior sessions with Otter Creek aren't just a regular session, they are an experience because we specialize in seniors! Just ask any of my previous seniors... I walk you through the entire process and make sure you have everything you need to be prepared before and during your session. My number one goal is for you to feel comfortable in front of my camera, to highlight your unique style and interests.
-- Read the Reviews / Testimonials on their Website --
I highly recommend reading reviews on Google, the photographers website and even check to see if they've posted any customer reviews on their social media. Do you see senior/parent reviews that talk about an experience you'd like to have during your senior photos? We have tons of Google Reviews for you to read through on Otter Creek senior photos and even have a few video testimonials on our Instagram of past seniors!
-- Does their Editing Style Align with your Photo Goals? --
Lastly, of course check out the photographers portfolio! There are so many different photography editing styles which makes the search even more fun to look through! Do you want dark and moody photos? Bright and airy photos? True-to-color photos? Each photographer has a pretty clear editing style that you will see on their social media and website, so choose a photographer who's editing style aligns with your photo goals! At Otter Creek, we specialize in true-to-color senior portraits. I personally believe photography is the ability to capture authentic moments, so by maintaining the true colors of your images it allows you to relive those moments exactly as they were yesterday and years down the road. Filters and overly-edited images will eventually go out of style, but keeping things real and genuine will always be on trend!
If you think Otter Creek is the right photographer for you, here are the steps to booking a session with me:
Step One: Contact me right here on my website or you can email delaneyannphoto@gmail.com to let me know you are interested in a session.
Step Two: You will receive session information in a digital Welcome Magazine that will be packed with information so you can make the right decision for your senior photos. Information like session options, pricing, the process, hair and makeup and more will be included. Look this over with your parents and then …
Step Three: Fill out the Questionnaire. This will let me know that you are interested in moving forward with your senior session. In the questionnaire, you and your parents can let me know which session package you would like to book and which season works best for you to take your senior photos: spring, summer, fall, etc.
Step Four: Once you have completed the Questionnaire, I will email you & your parents an agreement that reflects your selected senior session package and an invoice. A 25% deposit is due at the time of booking to secure the date for your session!
Step Five: Once your session gets closer, look for a fun Welcome Packet in your email that will have even more information regarding your senior session like a guide on what to wear, location ideas and more!
Step Six: Get ready for a fun day, laughing and creating photos that tell your unique personality!
